Tawas Bay Waterfront Fine Art Festival
For six decades, the Tawas Bay Waterfront Fine Art Festival has brought artists from across Michigan and the country to the beautiful shores of Lake Huron's Tawas Bay. On August 6-7, Shoreline Park in Tawas City will once again be filled with art exhibits, demonstrations, food and live music for the festival's 61st year, making it one of the longest-running art festivals in Michigan.
During the two-day event, talented artists will showcase and sell their original works in all mediums. Tents will line paths throughout the waterfront park on Saturday, August 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, August 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. As you stroll along, you can visit with painters, potters, sculptors, jewelry makers, photographers and other artists who will have their masterpieces and handcrafted work on display.
The Tawas Bay Waterfront Fine Art Festival is sponsored by the Tawas Bay Art Council and Gallery. As a juried art show, there will be cash prizes and ribbons awarded in several categories to recognize the remarkable talent of the festival's top participants.
Meet with the artists who will gladly discuss how their creative spirit manifested into each work of art. Pen and ink drawings, watercolor paintings, wood carvings, photography, fiber art, stained glass, handcrafted jewelry, fine pottery, stone and metal sculptures, book printing – the variety of amazing pieces showcased at the festival is endless. Not only does a purchase of one of these masterpieces support local talent, but it will serve as a beautiful memento of your visit to the Sunrise Side of Michigan.
The festival also includes a children's make-and-take tent, sandcastle building contest, demonstrations, food vendors and live music in the gazebo. Shoreline Park provides a postcard-worthy setting to the festival, with its expansive pier, boardwalk along the beach, gazebo, picnic pavilions and other great amenities. Plus, Tawas Point Lighthouse is visible from this 8.2 acre park.
In addition to the Tawas Bay Waterfront Fine Art Festival, Shoreline Park is also the site of other community events throughout the year, including the upcoming Labor Day Arts and Crafts Show on September 3-4.
