Summer Arts and Crafts Festivals along the Shores of Lake Huron
This summer you can spend the day admiring handcrafted items and fine works of art all while taking in the breathtaking views of Lake Huron. Two of Northern Michigan’s favorite arts and crafts shows, Flights on the Beach and the Harmony Festival, are back for another year. Don't miss these opportunities to sip, stroll and shop!
Visit Furtaw Field in Oscoda on Aug. 28-29 for the annual Flights on the Beach art show. Visitors will find dozens of local craftspeople and nationally acclaimed artists showcasing their wares. Stroll amongst the canopies for an amazing selection of handcrafted jewelry, pottery, metalwork, paintings, sculptures and so much more. This two-day event is held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and offers free admission. To quench your thirst, Flights on the Beach also will feature a tasting component of wine, beer and spirits from local makers. You’ll even be able to take some of your favorites home with you. Plus, don't miss the kite flying contest on the pier!
The second largest arts and crafts fair in Michigan takes place Labor Day weekend in nearby Harrisville. For nearly 50 years, the Harmony Festival has grown and now boasts 300 booths featuring artisans and crafters from all over the country. Sponsored by the Harrisville Arts Council, this two-day event is held on the grounds of the courthouse at the corner of US-23 and M-72 near the shores of Lake Huron. The "harmony" part of the festival comes from the Barbershop Quartets and Sweet Adelines who will perform concerts and serenade visitors as they peruse the beautiful works of art.
Whether you come for one of these spectacular festivals or just a relaxing weekend getaway, there is no shortage of things to do while you're visiting the Sunrise Coast of Michigan. We look forward to having you stay with us at Huron House this summer or any time of year. You won't be disappointed with the beautiful views of Lake Huron and the many attractions to visit along the shore – our pristine beaches, delicious restaurants, outdoor adventures and, yes, festivals!
