Summer Art Shows in Oscoda, Michigan
Summertime brings two of our favorite art shows to Oscoda. Whether you're an art connoisseur or just like to take an afternoon to admire the talent of skilled artists, you'll want to check out these two Northern Michigan art staples.
Art on the Beach has been a Northern Michigan favorite for almost 40 years. Every June, this amazing art show gets bigger and better! Hosted by the Oscoda-AuSable Chamber of Commerce, this year's show runs Saturday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is located in a picture-perfect spot overlooking the sandy shores of beautiful Lake Huron near the Oscoda Beach Park in downtown Oscoda.
More than 100 artisans from around the country will display and sell their handmade arts, crafts and hobbies. Only original artwork and items are shown, no resale or reproductions. And don’t miss the Oscoda Garden Club's live auction at noon on Saturday; proceeds from the auction go to the Garden Club’s nonprofit organization.
Paintings, photographs, sculptures, wood work, pottery, fine crafts and more will spill onto Furtaw Field in Oscoda this July. The Fresh Air Art Market is a juried art and craft show set for July 10-11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Furtaw Field, at North State Street and U.S. 23, is a tourist attraction in its own right, as home to a 13-foot statute of the barrel-chested lumberjack Paul Bunyan.
At the Fresh Air Art Market, up to 100 artists and craftspeople will showcase their work – from ceramics to glass and jewelry to metalwork. The show artists are selected through a review of their work by a panel of qualified experts. The top artists in their categories are selected according to their skill and quality of work. So you know the art and crafts you'll see at this show will be top-notch!
Admission to both Art on the Beach and Fresh Air Art Market is free, so take advantage of the opportunity to see and buy great pieces from talented artisans. Whatever you find, it will be a great souvenir to remember your extraordinary getaway on Lake Huron.
