A Romantic Elopement Story
Some couples dream of a big wedding, while others prefer a small, intimate event. If the latter describes the vision for your wedding day, then a romantic ceremony on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron might be just what you're looking for to start your life together. Let our concierge take care of all the details to give you and your partner a private, meaningful wedding celebration with no stress or distractions. At Huron House, we specialize in elopements!
To give you an idea of the magic we can create here at Huron House, we want to share the elopement story of our guests Amy and Jude, who celebrated their love with a winter beachside wedding. Amy is the type of bride all planners love to work with. After reaching out to us through our website, Amy shared her clear vision on everything from the time and day of the ceremony to the aesthetic of her bouquet and cake. (Don't worry, even if you can't picture the details for your wedding, we can help you create something spectacular!)
Amy was set on a weekday ceremony in mid-January at sunrise (love!). Her cake and flowers were designed with a winter sunrise theme in mind. For her flowers, she chose bold orange roses, stark white dahlias and ranunculus. The real star of the bouquet were off-white calla lilies that were truly stunning! For the wedding cake, the couple chose a strawberry cake filled with fresh strawberries with a cream cheese frosting. Our in-house pastry chef accented the cake with some of the ranunculus and orange roses, capturing their vision down to the very last detail.
Amy and Jude arrived the day before their ceremony, coming to us from the Detroit area. The morning of their ceremony was cold, and the lake was snow-covered with ice as far as the eye could see. Amy’s orange flowers popped against the cloudy, blue-gray winter sky. Amy and Jude exchanged the vows they had written themselves in a very intimate moment that was shared only between the two of them.
After the ceremony, we moved the couple to our heated igloo where the photographer captured some candid photos of them cutting their cake and having a champagne toast (with a splash of OJ, of course). Our favorite part of the day was when Amy and Jude agreed to our idea of walking out onto the frozen lake for some photos. We're so glad they did because the pictures ended up being some of the best we’ve ever had from one of our elopements!
To date, Amy and Jude are one of our favorite couples that we've had the pleasure of working with. It was truly an honor being a part of their special day, and we look forward to having them back for many anniversary stays to come!
