Oscoda Rockfest: Michigan's Ultimate Rock Music Extravaganza

This day-long festival brings the best homegrown, original rock music to the Sunrise Side of Michigan. 2023 is the fourth year for Oscoda Rockfest, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, at Veterans Memorial Park on the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base. Get ready to rock out all day long, as the gates open at 11 a.m. and the bands keep playing until midnight. Oscoda Rockfest is renowned for curating an outstanding lineup of musicians from all over Michigan. Whether you are a fan of classic rock, alternative, metal or punk, this festival caters to all tastes with a diverse array of rock genres. For just $25, your admission ticket gets you access to see all 10 bands! Proceeds from the event benefit the host venue, Veterans Memorial Park.
The band lineup for this year’s Oscoda Rockfest brings together some of the best contemporary Michigan rock bands circulating throughout the state — from Ann Arbor to Detroit to right here in Oscoda. Taking the stage in 2023 are: Black Note Graffiti, Here After Six, Adaboy!, Lori & The Darlings, William Patrick & The Smoke, Citrus Orange, Grounded, FLiPSiDE, and Half-Deck. Headlining the festival is Moonshine Bandits, the only act that doesn't hail from Michigan. This California-born country-rap group is composed of Dusty "Tex" Dahlgren and Brett "Bird" Brooks and just released their latest album, "Pour Decisions." They describe their musical style as "full throttle and in your face." Their unconventional, crossover genre-bending musical mayhem is a great way to cap off the festival.
In addition to the music, there will be vendors on site with everything from band merchandise to artisan crafts. There will be entertainment between the bands, both on the stage and around the festival grounds, including a corn hole tournament and a dunk tank. Food trucks will serve up barbecue, burgers and other delicious grub from Zachzilla's, The Paddling Pig, Zoo's Tasty Eatz, North Woods Coffee Guys and more. And Huron Distributors in Alpena will keep the drinks flowing!
