Get it Fresh: Oscoda's Farm Market
To truly get to know a place, you have to eat its food. So, it’s only natural that we suggest some fresh, locally-grown food and produce during your stay. There’s no better place than the Northeast Michigan Regional Farm Market held every Wednesday from 9 AM to 2 PM at Shoreline Park. Staying for the weekend? Every Saturday, 8 AM to 1 PM, the market is also located at Gateway Park in Tawas City. Grab a light lunch, stock up on some tasty ingredients for the fridge back home, or ask a Michigan State University Master Gardener the toughest green thumb questions.
This fall, you’ll find organically grown sweet corn, kale, spinach, winter squash, zucchini, and many more vegetables, as well as beeswax, maple syrup, soap, wine, and bread. You can also find dried, fresh, and medicinal herbs, cheeses, flowers, and seeds. This market specializes in freshness, friendliness, and good advice. At a table at the market, expect to see an MSU Extension “Master Gardener Is In” volunteer prepared to tackle some of your toughest questions or help you lay the groundwork of your new garden back home. From weird bugs to the essentials, the MSU Extension brings the vast knowledge resources of Michigan State University directly to individuals, communities, and businesses.
