Enjoy Blues by the Bay in East Tawas
Soulful music with its roots in African American spirituals, the blues is an iconic music genre that speaks to the essence of our being. When we think of the blues, we think of great musicians like B.B. King, Muddy Waters and Billie Holiday, just to name a few. But when you stay with us at Huron House this summer, you can check out some amazing modern-day blues talent at the annual Tawas Blues by the Bay Festival.
This three-day festival is set for August 26-28, 2022, and will be filled with entertainment, food and beverages. A $35 souvenir button gains you access to all three days of the festival at East Tawas Harbor Park. Under a huge "big top" tent along the shore of beautiful Tawas Bay, you'll hear nine great bands perform blues, Cajun, swing and other blues styles.
The lineup includes blues and jazz guitarist Brendon Linsley and powerhouse band The Jimmys on Friday. Saturday it’s Lester Hambone Brown at noon, followed by the electric blues of Nicky T and the Snake Charmers, Harper and the Midwest Kind, Paul Nelson Band, and Danielle Nicole. On Sunday it's Sweet Willie Tea and The Blues Abusers and Motor City Josh & The Big 3.
This is the 20th year for Tawas Blues by the Bay, which is aimed at preserving the blues as part of our cultural heritage and tradition through awareness and education. Admission buttons can be purchased at the event or in advance at these locations: Klenow's Market, Mooney's Ben Franklin, Village Chocolatier, and Tawas Chamber of Commerce.
"The blues are the true facts of life expressed in words and song, inspiration, feeling and understanding." – Willie Dixon
