Couples Romantic Ski Adventures in Oscoda and Tawas
This is the time of year to celebrate love and romance so why not make once-in-a-lifetime memories and share winter’s adventures together. Whether the two of you want to quietly embrace breathtaking vistas on cross-country skis and snowshoes during the day or on a moonlit night, experience adrenaline-filled snowmobiling or snowkiting, or party at the annual Perchville USA, Michigan’s oldest winter carnival festival, Oscoda and the nearby Tawas Bay area have what you’re looking for. You’re at the center of it all when staying at the Huron House.
Oscoda is the gateway to the Corsair Trail System, one of the best in the Midwest, as well as 150,000 acres of pristine wilderness that comprises the Huron-Manistee National Forest. Also notorious are Michigan’s Huron Snowmobile Trail, Eagle Run Cross-Country Ski and Hiking Trail and the legendary Au Sable River valley. Equipment rentals and tips about the trails and conditions are always available at Nordic Sports.
During the winter, Tawas, which is 20 minutes from the Huron House, transforms into an animated, vibrant ski town. From February 6th through the 9th, the 70th annual Perchville USA festival takes place with activities including a parade, chili cook-off, polar bear swims, great food, live entertainment, and hilarious barstool and lawn mower racing.
No matter what activities you choose, you’ll always be able to return to your home-away-from-home at the Huron House and curl up in front of your private fireplace, have an in-room couples’ massage, soak in your hot tub and Jacuzzi, and order room service.
